Our dental office is located in Uptown Market Plaza, a complex built upon the principles of LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design).
Strategies used to help the environment:
- reduce water consumption with low-flow faucets, sensors, dual-flush toilets and low-flow kitchen faucets
- no use of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)-based refrigerants in building air systems
- use of wood-based materials in accordance with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Principles
- recycling policy to help diversion of waste from landfills
- the use low-VOC (volatile organic compound) adhesives, sealants, and paints
- carpets and cushions meeting the testing and product requirements of the Carpet and Rug Institute’s Green Label Plus Program
- hard surface flooring with Floorscore standard
Our dental office has adopted additional strategies to help the environment:
- Use of LED and fluorescent lighting which emit less heat and use less energy than traditional incandescent or halogen lighting
- Occupancy sensors for lighting and water faucet sensors to conserve energy and water when not needed
- Use of digital radiographs and technology, which eliminates the need for harsh chemical processing or lead foils to take xrays
- Use of digital charting and software, which minimizes the need to use and waste paper
